  <title><![CDATA[JRF at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida Department of Biotechnology]]></title>

<p>Lab of Dr. Rawal is supported by generous grants to build advanced applications in emerging areas of cancer genomics, network sciences, vaccine development and epidemiology. The lab has dedicated high end Xeon servers, desktops, &amp; laptops for research purpose. Currently, there are several researchers (JRFs, B. Techs, M. Tech and PhDs) working on several challenging bioinformatics projects. In addition, Dr. Rawal has collaborations with reputed national and international research teams.</p>

<p>Dr. Rawal and his US based collaborators have recently secured grant for development of vaccine against an infectious disease agent. For this project, applications are invited for the posts of Junior Research Fellow (two positions) for the following time-bound sponsored projects as per the details given below:</p>

<p>PI: Dr. Kamal Rawal, Biotechnology Department, JIIT, Noida.</p>

<p>Post: JRF (Two)</p>

<p>Job Description: Bioinformatics analysis, Software development, Programming, Text Mining, Deep Curation</p>

<p>Duration: The post is valid upto duration of the project. Continuation is subject to satisfactory performance.</p>

<p>Emoluments depends upon experience and skill sets. We will hire them on following scale:</p>

<p>Junior Scale- Level 1: Rs 22000 per month.</p>

<p>Senior Scale - Level 2: Rs 30000 per month.</p>

<p>Essential Qualification(s) for JRF post:</p>

<p>(A) A Master degree (MSc or MTech or equivalent with minimum of 55% marks) in Bioinformatics/Computer Sciences, IT, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences or Statistics, Agriculture, Veterinary, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering &amp; Technology from a recognized University/Institute and having some experience/skills in bioinformatics, programming, computational or software development work.</p>

<p>(B) In exceptional cases, we can also consider candidates with B. Tech or equivalent with right skill sets and experience for the post of JRFs.</p>

<p>Desirable:</p>

<p>A) Preference will be given to BINC (Bioinformatics National Certification)/DBT-BET/ICMR/ CSIR /UGC/ JRF/ NET qualified candidates. <p>Essential Qualification(s) for Post Doctoral Fellow/ Research Scientist:</p>

<p>We are seeking an individual with expertise in analyzing literature information, text mining, network biology, data integration, and modeling. Competitive candidates would also have programming experience in scripting languages with perl, C, C++, and R programming. This position requires a PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Physics or related fields, and evidence of scientific productivity through publications in international journals. Motivation to gain an in-depth understanding of biological phenomena is required. Applications should include a current CV and names of at least three references.   <title><![CDATA[A computational postdoc position and a bioinformatician position]]></title>

<p>A computational postdoc position and a bioinformatician position are available in Alessandro Romanel's Lab recently established at the Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO) in Trento, Italy. The positions are in the context of an AIRC grant and are immediately available.<br /> <br />Successful candidates will be involved in the design and implementation of strategies to study the role of inherited polymorphisms in combination with timedependent variables and somatic events on cancer genesis, progression and resistance.<br />The ideal postdoc candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or equivalent, experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing and high-density array data from human cells, strong analytical and quantitative background and programming skills. Background in cancer genomics is recommended.<br />The ideal bioinformatician candidate will have a four or five years degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or equivalent, experience in the management of large datasets, implementation of processing pipelines and strong programming skills. <p>One Junior Research Fellow position, in a DBT funded project, is available in the Translational Health Group, ICGEB, New Delhi</p>

<p>Qualifications: MSc (preferably in Biotechnology, Life Sciences or Zoology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics). Candidates with hands-on experience on GC-MS data acquisition and analysis will be given preference. Bioinformatics expertise required.</p>

<p>Fellowship: As per DBT guidelines.</p>

<p>Tenure: The position is purely on temporary basis with an initial tenure of six months and based on satisfactory performance may continue until the completion of the project. </p>

<p>BACKGROUND<br />We are looking for up to three Software Developers / Bioinformaticians to join a newly formed Cellular Genetics Informatics (CGI) team at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. CGI is a computational support team responsible for providing efficient access to cutting-edge analysis methods for Cellular Genetics (www.sanger.ac.uk/scie[...]etics) faculty groups at the Sanger Institute. The Cellular Genetics department uses a combination of high throughput experimentation and computational tool development to understand the biology of cells, and leads a number of world-class research initiatives including the Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Initiative (HIPSCI: www.hipsci.org) and Human Cell Atlas (www.humancellatlas.org). Our team's focus is the development and operation of scientific analysis workflows and tools for data analysis that support the department's research goals, as well as developing the infrastructure necessary to manage the efficient operation of those workflows.<br />RESPONSIBILITIES<br />This role will focus on development of robust production data analysis pipelines as well as implementing them on both high performance computing farm (LSF) and cloud-based (OpenStack) environments.<br />As part of the CGI team, the successful applicant would have access to Sanger's world-class computational resources, including an OpenStack private cloud environment, a 15000+ core computational cluster and many petabytes of high-speed distributed filesystems and object stores.<br />Recent graduates or current students in their final year are also encouraged to apply, although it is strongly desirable that any candidate has substantial development experience outside of coursework (e.g. active participation in open source projects or the pursuit of personal coding projects).<br />REQUIREMENTS<br />Degree in Computer Science or in a related quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics)<br />Substantial experience in either software development or bioinformatics analysis<br />Knowledge of core computer science concepts and practices<br />Skill in a combination of interpreted and compiled languages (e.g. Java, Python, C/C++, R, Ruby)<br />Experience with Git/GitHub<br />Experience with high performance computing environments (e.g. LSF or SGE)<br />Knowledge of virtualization/containerisation technologies (Docker, Singularity)<br />Knowledge of Linux based operating systems, libraries, and tools<br />Critical thinking skills and a familiarity with statistics (e.g. statistical distributions, significance tests)<br />Excellent communication and presentation skills<br />Motivation and attention to detail<br />TERMS<br />Permanent position<br />LOCALE<br />Hinxton, Cambridgeshire UK<br />COMPENSATION<br />Grade 2 (Software Developer) £40,345 to £48,818 dependant on experience<br />HOW TO APPLY<br />Please apply through the Sanger website.
