<p>Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF), Gargi College, University of Delhi invites candidates for filling up the following purely temporary positions sponsored by DBT, New Delhi.</p>

<p>1. Name of the post: Traineeship<br />Essential Qualification: Post Graduate degree in Bioinformatics or any other branch of Life Sciences preferably with dissertation in Bioinformatics.<br />Desirable Qualification: Prior knowledge of programming languages such as C, VB, SQL etc. and software/database development.</p>

<p>2. Name of the post: Research Associate<br />Essential Qualification: PhD in Bioinformatics/Biological Sciences/Computer Science or allied sciences with proven experience in bioinformatics.</p>

<p>3. Name of the post: Studentship<br />Essential Qualifications: Final year Post Graduate students pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics or any branch of Life Science with knowledge of bioinformatics.</p>

<p>This international advanced course will provide training on bioinformatics and statistics methods for genomic research. It will give insight into how biological knowledge can be generated from high-throughput sequencing (DNA-Seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq) experiments and will illustrate how to analyze such data. The course covers both the underlying statistical and algorithmic concepts, and the practice of how to automate and code such analyses using the scripting language R.</p>

<p>A walk-in Interview for the following position tenable at the Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF), Department of Biotechnology, Alagappa University will be held at the Department of Biotechnology, Science Campus, Alagappa University, Karaikudi 630 004 on 03.08.2013 (Saturday) at 12:30 PM. This national facility is funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. The main objectives of the Centre involve teaching and research activities in bioinformatics/biotechnology.</p>

<p>1. Studentship (One Post):</p>

<p>Stipend : Rs. 5000 p.m. (consolidated)</p>

<p>Qualification: M.Sc., in Bioinformatics/Biotechnology/Biophysics/Biochemistry/<br />Life Sciences</p>

<p>*Livestock Functional Genomics Summer School - Call for applications*</p>

<p>1st Livestock Functional Genomics Summer School (LFG 2013).</p>

<p>This School was designed for graduate students and early-stage researchers with interest in livestock genomics, who are engaged in projects that require knowledge in the field of computational biology.</p>

<p>Sixty selected participants will spend 13 days receiving theoretical and practical training in genomic data handling from internationally renowned experts.</p>

<p>After the course, the participant should understand the basis and the context of livestock big molecular data, and be able to manipulate high density genotypes, whole genome sequences and transcriptome data.</p>

<p>The Summer School will be held in Araçatuba-SP Brazil, from the 13th to the 21st of September 2013.</p>

<p>All accepted participants will have *expenses fully covered (air ticket, hotel and meals)*, including a free pass to the 5th International Symposium on Animal Functional Genomics http://www.isafg2013.org.br </p>
