Applications for the following Contractual Teaching Position are invited for Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Science and Technology (CISST), Sardar Patel University:

2. Assistant Professor (ONE) (Contractual)

For the subject of Bioinformatics

Qualifications:

(I) Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55 % marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s level

(II) Ph.D. degree in the concerned subject or in a relevant interdisciplinary subject
from an Indian University or NET/SLET clearance Contractual appointment carries a total Fixed Emoluments of Rs. 30,000/- p.m without any assurance of permanent Positions and related benefits.

An Application Form in prescribed Performa, available on University Website: www.spuvvn.edu should be filled in completely in Twelve Copies with self attested copies of certificates of qualifications and experience. Only one copy of each mark sheet be attached with the first copy of the application form. All 12 (Twelve) Application forms should be sent to Registrar’s office along with Demand Draft of Application form fee of Rs. 250/- (Non-refundable) in favour of “REGISTRAR, SARDAR PATEL UNIVERSITY, VALLABH VIDYANAGAR”. The S.C. and S.T. category candidates need not to pay Application fee.

Applicants who are in service should apply through their present employers. Candidates called for interview shall be required to attend at their own cost.

In absence of suitable candidate, the University may relax the eligibility criteria, for conditional appointment.

Bose Institute, Kolkata, invites applications from Indian Citizens for ONE (01) temporary position of Junior Research Fellow in the DBT sponsored project entitled, “Centre of Excellance (CoE) in Bioinformatics at Bose Institute”, running under Prof. Pinakpani Chakrabarti, Project Co-ordinatior, Bioinformatics Centre. The project is tenable upto 31.03.2017, but duration of the fellowship is one year only. The JRF will work with one of the faculty members of the center based on his / her motivation in any specific area on Bioinformatics.

Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. / M.Tech degree in any stream of Chemical/ Biological Sciences with CSIR-UGC-NET-JRF / ICMR-JRF / DBT-JRF or CSIR-UGCNET- LS / GATE qualification.

Desirable qualification:

(i) Specialized knowledge in Organic / Physical chemistry.
(ii) Any exposure to research involving the small molecules (like drug) and / or protein structure determination or prediction.
(iii) Basic knowledge in computer programming, e.g. using FORTRAN, C, shell, perl etc.
(iv) Hands-on-experience on any of the following software : CHARMM/AMBER/NAMD/GROMACS,Gaussian/Gamess, Haddock/Autodock, Schrodinger etc. (or any other software serving similar purposes in molecular modeling)

Fellowship :

(i) Rs. 16,000/- p.m., plus admissible HRA & Medical Benefit for M.Sc. with CSIRUGC NET-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF or M.Tech. with CSIR-UGC NETJRF/
ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/CSIR-UGC NET-LS/GATE
(ii) Rs. 12,000/- p.m., plus admissible HRA & Medical Benefit for M.Sc. with CSIRUGC NET-LS/GATE

Age : Below 28 years as on the day on which the application is made (relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN candidates only as per rule).

The interview will now be held 01st April 2014. The monthly fellowship of JRF will be Rs 12,000/- plus HRA as per the University rules.

Essential Qualification: Master degree in any discipline of Life Science with NET qualified or valid GATE score.

Desirable Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates having research experience in Bioinformatics.

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Biophysics, Molecular Biology & Bioinformatics, University of Calcutta for the year 2014 from eligible candidates who would be placed under the departmental teachers or affiliated research supervisors for the pursuance of their Ph.D. programme.

Candidates are requested to download the Ph.D. admission test application form from the University website and apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan available through different University Cash counters. The challan is to be duly forwarded through the Head, Department of Biophysics, Molecular Biology & Bioinformatics, University of Calcutta.

The completed application form with a copy of the paid challan is to be submitted to the office of the Department by April 16, 2014.

Syllabus for the Test: The questions for the admission test and interview will be based on topics in the following areas:

Mathematical methods, Molecular and Cellular Biophysics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Plant Biology, Developmental biology, Neurobiology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.

However, the interview will be primarily based on the research emphasis of the candidate. Candidates must clearly indicate the program in which they want to apply.
