  <title><![CDATA[A computational postdoc position and a bioinformatician position]]></title>

<p>A computational postdoc position and a bioinformatician position are available in Alessandro Romanel's Lab recently established at the Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO) in Trento, Italy. The positions are in the context of an AIRC grant and are immediately available.<br /> <br />Successful candidates will be involved in the design and implementation of strategies to study the role of inherited polymorphisms in combination with timedependent variables and somatic events on cancer genesis, progression and resistance.<br />The ideal postdoc candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or equivalent, experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing and high-density array data from human cells, strong analytical and quantitative background and programming skills. Background in cancer genomics is recommended.<br />The ideal bioinformatician candidate will have a four or five years degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or equivalent, experience in the management of large datasets, implementation of processing pipelines and strong programming skills. <p>Monsanto is seeking a very talented Genomics Scientistto become an integral member of our Global Pipeline Analytics team with a focus on quantitative genetics. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with modeling and analysis of genetic data sets using a variety of statistical techniques.</p>

<p>Major Responsibilities:<br />- Provide guidance on experimental design for genomic-related experiments<br />- Familiarity with analysis of the following methods: GWS, QTL, eQTL, RNA-Seq<br />- Provide written and oral presentations of methods, results, conclusions, and recommendations to peer and management groups.<br />- Ensure timely delivery and clear communication of results<br />- Develop strong and successful collaborations among various Monsanto enabling teams.</p>

<p>Required Skills:</p>

<p>- PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Quantitative Genetics, Breeding, Bioinformatics or a related field with 2 years of experience<br />- Working knowledge and experience with one of the following quantitative languages:R, Python, Perl, SAS<br />- Background in Windows and Linux operating systems<br />- Very strong problem solving skills will be required to work well as a member of a dynamic team<br />- Strong verbal and written communication skills.<br />- Demonstrated ability to deliver timely results and be results oriented.<br />- Extensive knowledge of quantitative genetics and experimental design.&nbsp;<br />- Demonstrated track record of solving challenging and complex problems.</p>

<p>Desired Skills/Experience:</p>

<p>- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts in language understandable by scientists from a variety of disciplines.<br />- Experience in agronomy and/or plant breeding in vegetables or row crops.</p>

<p>The LABGeM team (CEA/Genoscope, CNRS UMR 8030, France, Dir. Claudine Médigue) is developing integrated approaches which combines bioinformatics methods based (i) on genomic and metabolic contexts, (ii) on an orignal metabolic network representation and (iii) on a structural classification of active sites for the discovery of new metabolic enzymatic activities.</p>

<p>We are hiring a post-doctoral fellow for the development of innovative bioinformatics methods to explore metabolic networks and enzyme families. These methods will be based on protein family analysis and graph approaches combining genomic and metabolic contexts.</p>

<p>The goal of the project is investigating the regulation and functional role of non coding RNAs in tissue response to hypoxia and ischemia.</p>

<p>We are looking for a candidate that is going to interact with biologists and bioinformaticians to manage and analyze NGS data (mostly RNA-seq) and microarray data.</p>

<p>The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience in dealing with NGS data, a good command of English and written communication and at least 2 relevant publications as first author in peer reviewed international journals. The candidate is expected to interact with a small international group and to be able also to work independently. Knowledge of programming is a definitive plus, as well as a good statistical background and/or wet molecular biology skills.</p>

<p>Salary is proportional to experience and to the publication record (up to 38 000euro/year before taxes and retirement contribution i.e. IRPEF and INPS).</p>
