<p>Applications are invited for award of one Junior Research Fellowship on a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 12,000/- pm in the project “Bioinformatics Sub-DIC ”, under the Coordinatorship Dr. Anil Kumar. The fellowship is purely temporary and may continue till the duration of the project or maximum three years which ever is earlier. The appointment shall be given on six monthly review basis.</p>

  <title><![CDATA[Postdoc Position in Computational Biology]]></title>
  <description><![CDATA[
<p>The Computational Biology Group of Interdisciplinary Center for<br />Clinical Research (IZKF) Aachen, RWTH Aachen University Hospital,<br />Aachen, invites applicants for PhD candidate or postdoctoral position<br />in computational biology in one of the following topics:</p>

<p>1) Statistical machine learning methods for the analysis of medical<br />epigenomics data.</p>

<p>2) Sequence analysis algorithms for detection of RNA-DNA interactions.</p>

<p>Applicants should hold a M.Sc . or PhD in Computer Science or related<br />areas. Experience in the analysis of biological sequences, gene<br />expression and gene regulation is desirable. The candidate should have<br />solid programming skills (C, Python and/or R) and acquaintance with<br />Linux. Experience with high performance computing is a plus. The<br />working language of the group is English.</p>

<p>The position is based on the German TV-L 13 salary scale, including<br />all German social benefits (health insurance and pension scheme). The<br />expected starting date is September 2014.   <title><![CDATA[Postdoc positions in computational biology - Center for Genomic Science - Milan, Italy]]></title>

<p>Job Description: three postdoc positions in computational biology are available at the Center for Genomic Science in Milan (Italy):</p>

<p>- Development of computational methods to investigate the interplay between epigenetic and genetic layers and their role in tumor progression, by integrating genomic, epigenomic and transcriptional data. PI: Mattia Pelizzola (http://tiny.cc/comEpi)<br />- Epigenome and transcriptome analysis in mouse models of Hepatocellular Carcinoma. PI: Bruno Amati - Small and long non-coding RNAs in cancer stem cells. PI: Francesco Nicassio</p>

<p>All projects will benefit from the availability of both in-house and publicly available next-generation sequencing datasets. Familiarity with Linux environment, programming skills (especially in R) and a background in either computational biology, or physics/engineering/math will be advantageous.</p>

  <title><![CDATA[Postdoctoral Position (Bioinformatics/Computational Biology)]]></title>

<p>University College Cork<br />LAPTI<br />Cork-Co Cork-Ireland</p>

<p>Postdoctoral position is available for three years to work on development of Bioinformatics resources for the analysis and visualization of ribosome profiling data. Ribosome profiling (ribo-seq) is a technology that allows mapping positions of the ribosomes on the whole transcriptome level with a nucleotide precision. The technology allows obtaining high resolution digital snapshots of gene expression in cells. The position is available starting on the 1st of October, 2013.</p>

<p>Candidate is expected to have Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology. Candidates with the degree in non-Biological disciplines such as Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics or Electrical Engineering will also be considered.</p>

<p>The position is available at LAPTI (http://lapti.ucc.ie) that is located in the Western Gate Building (http://www.stwarchitects.com/project-information.php?c=1&amp;p=09993) at University College Cork. Western Gate Building Research Complex hosts several UCC departments and provides ideal environment for interdisciplinary research. Cork (sometimes referenced as “Venice of Ireland”) is the second most populous city in the Republic. It has friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere and vibrant culture. A number of American industrial giants such as Apple , EMC and Pfizer have chosen Cork as a home for their European headquarters.</p>

  <title><![CDATA[Workshop on population and metagenomics analysis @ NERC]]></title>

<p>Workshop Overview</p>

<p>A ten-day workshop taking place between 25 February - 6 March 2014 providing detailed hands-on training for population and meta-genomics analysis for researchers with little or no background in mathematics or computing.</p>

<p>Venue: Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon (nearest train station - Totnes)</p>

<p>Times: 25 February - 6th March 2014.</p>

<p>Arrival evening of Tuesday 25 February 2014. Departure morning of 6th March 2014. The course itself will take place 9am-12pm, 2pm-5pm and on some evenings 7pm-10pm everyday 26 February-5th March. Students are expected to attend the entire course.</p>

<p>The course itself is free of charged and is funded by a Professional Postgraduate Development Award from NERC.</p>

<p>A total of 30 funded places are available which cover the costs of accommodation and food, but not the cost of transportation to/from the venue.</p>

<p>An additional 10 places are available for participants from industry. The cost of accommodation and meals will need to be covered by the participants.</p>

<p>You should register your interest by 31 December 2013. Participants will be informed by 10th January 2014 as to whether they have been selected. Please note that preference will be given to researchers funded by NERC.</p>
