  <title><![CDATA[Postdoctoral scholarship in Bioinformatics at  KTH]]></title>

<p>The School of Biotechnology offers a curriculum that reflects the multidisciplinary nature of Biotechnology, integrating theoretical and applied science in undergraduate and graduate courses. The school has six departments with about 300 employees, located at AlbaNova University Center in Stockholm and Science for Life Laboratory in Solna. The Biotechnology research within the school is internationally well recognized.</p>

<p>We are now seeking a postdoc scholarship holder with strong background in transcriptomics to use this large collection of data for integrative studies. Focus will be on advanced bioinformatics and statistical analysis of data from high-throughput sequencing including integration with the other platforms.</p>

<p>The scholarship holder must have a PhD with an outstanding research and publication record and will be selected based on her/his excellence and her/his skills. A PhD should have been awarded less than five years before the deadline of the application. The scholarship holder must have a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology or equivalent with a profound knowledge about biology and biostatistics.</p>

  <title><![CDATA[EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships]]></title>

<p>The EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships support research visits to another laboratory in the research areas of Systems Biology and Genomic &amp; Computational Biology.<br /> <br />EMBO partnered with the European Association for Bioindustries (EuropaBio) to offer four EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships that fund exchanges between laboratories in eligible countries lasting between one week (7 days) and six months (180 days).<br /> <br />EuropaBio, represents 79 corporate and associate members and bio-regions, and 17 national biotechnology associations, and promotes an innovative and dynamic European biotechnology industry. It is committed to the socially responsible use of biotechnology to improve quality of life, to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure diseases, to improve the quality and quantity of food and feedstuffs and to move towards a biobased and zero-waste economy.<br /> <br />As part of the collaboration, EuropaBio provided funds for four fellowships of up to twice the duration of EMBO Short-Term Fellowships. These fellowships will only be available for application during 2017 for research visits during 2018.<br />The goal of the EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships is to facilitate valuable collaborations with research groups applying techniques that are unavailable in the applicant's laboratory. The EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships are not awarded for exchanges between two laboratories within the same country. The EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships are intended for joint research work rather than consultations. The fellowships contribute towards travel plus subsistence of the fellow only and not of dependents.<br /> <br />Applications are open until 31 December 2017 only.</p>

<p>Applications are invited for the following 01 (one) post in Indo-US Science and Technology Forum sponsored project entitled "Indo-US Advanced Bioenergy Consortium: Second Generation Biofuels"</p>

<p>Post 1: Senior Research Fellow (Computational Biologist / Metabolic engineering)</p>

<p>Salary: Rs. 25, 000+30% HRA p.m.</p>

<p>Duration: The position is purely temporary for the duration of two years or coterminous with project</p>

<p>Age limit: The upper age limit for SRF shall be 32 years, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST, Women, PH and OBC applicants.</p>

<p>Essential Qualifications: Masters/B Tech/M tech in Basic Sciences with at least 2yrs of research experience in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology related to Database /portal building &amp; maintenance, high throughput data handling and analysis. Selection preference will be given to candidates with a good knowledge of Python and/or R. Knowledge of JAVA will also get a special consideration.</p>

<p>Desired Skills: Atleast, one publication in the related area in a peer-reviewed journal. Will be expected to manage ongoing research activities in the project, interact with experimental group, manage the project data analysis, prepare file reports and associated project work etc. Familiarity with plant systems biology and genomics /metabolite resources related to plant metabolomics is desirable.</p>

<p>Position available Project Description: Several positions are available for the project titled: “A unified web-portal for analysis, integration and visualization of multi-omics data”. The goal of this project is to develop a user-accessible resource for integrated analysis and visualization of multi-OMICs data sets (including gene expression, genotype, methylation, microRNA, etc.). Data sets generated on various platforms shall be maintained in a stable database, accessed through standard querying mechanisms, and the results shall be displayed via user-friendly interface. The analysis engine shall run on open-source software (such as R/Bioconductor) developed in-house. All positions are contractual. </p>

<p>Appointment will be initially given for a period of one year which is extendable depending upon performance, availability of funds and requirements of the institute. </p>
