<p>UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD SCHOOL OF LIFE SCIENCES </p>

<p>Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a JRF/SRF position (sponsored by DBT/DST) at Prof. Jagan Pongubala’s laboratory, University of Hyderabad. Dr. Pongubala’s laboratory is investigating the molecular pathways that control the development of innate and adaptive immune cell types utilizing a combination of genetic, molecular and computational approaches.</p>

<p>JRF/SRF</p>

<p>Masters degree in Bioinformatics  (M.Sc./M.Tech.)</p>

<p>Rs. 12,000+HRA<br />Rs. 16,000+HRA</p>

<p>Initial appointment is for one year and  subjected to renewal up to 2 years</p>

<p>Candidates selected for the above position would have a choice to work on computational biology or experimental  biology. Candidates interested to work on computational biology are expected to perform high-throughput sequencing  (NGS) data analysis and should have a strong background in Bioinformatics &amp; Computational Biology, good  programming skills particularly Perl, Python, R and work experience in Linux environment.</p>

<p>Candidates interested to work on experimental biology should have work experience in techniques that are routinely  used in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture. A basic knowledge of bioinformatics is also desired. </p>

<p>Applicants for the above positions should have a Masters degree (M.Tech/M.Sc) with an aggregate marks greater  than 70% or a 7.5 CGPA. Candidates having JRF-fellowship through CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT will be encouraged  to enroll into Ph.D. program. <p>One profile of Computational/Systems Biology and Machine Learning at Postdoc level is needed at the Laboratory of Immunobiology of Neurological Disorders led by Cinthia Farina, Institute of Experimental Neurology, Ospedale San Raffaele, Milano. The projects of interest for this application involve research on translational bioinformatics in complex human disorders.<br /> <br />You have a  PhD in Computational Science, Bioinformatics,  or equivalent.<br /> <br />Especially relevant skills for the profile are:<br />1. In-depth understanding and implementation of methods and development of<br />algorithms for statistical and machine learning classification, clustering, predictive<br />modelling.<br />2. Experience on transcriptomics and clinical data analysis, in particular gene regulatory networks, protein interactomes, development of diagnostic tools.<br /> <br />3. Solid experience with data mining, bioinformatics programming and statistics for bioinformatics.<br />4. Flexibility and willing to work across multiple projects and technology in a rapidly evolving scientific context. <br /> <br />Candidates with programming/scripting experience are also welcome. <p>Job Description<br />We are looking for a motivated application scientist to help evaluate, compare, and develop next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis methods. The successful candidate should be able to quickly understand the state-of-art computational biology techniques, prototype them and perform benchmarking studies. The candidate must also be comfortable working with people from different disciplines and be able to present data analysis results in a clear and effective manner. The candidate is also expected to interact with customers as needed, write technical reports and publish new methods and/or data analysis findings in public forums.</p>

<p>Candidate Requirements:<br />A PhD in computer science, computational biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field, along with sufficient programming skills for prototyping. Experience with next generation sequencing data analysis is required. Candidates with MS degree but with relevant work experience can also be considered. </p>
