OPENINGS OF FACULTY POSITIONS AT IIIT-ALLAHABAD

(Under Tenure-Track Model)

IIIT-Allahabad has several Openings for the Faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level.

It is a regular tenure-track faculty positions for 3-5 years in teaching and research. A regular faculty is expected to engage heavily in research and teaching. The eligibility criteria for regular faculty positions are similar as in IITs. For an Assistant Professor position, a candidate must have a PhD (in IT/Computer Science &/or Engineering/Electrical, Electronics &/or Communication Engineering/etc; for interdisciplinary areas the PhD may be in an appropriate field), plus three years experience. However, for PhDs from a well known University/Institute (e.g. IITs/IISc/TIFR/ISI in India or well known research universities across the world), and a good research/academic record, the 3 years experience requirement may be waived.

The pay scale for faculty is same as in IITs. Other benefits include initiation research grant, travel support, book grant, professional society membership, etc., and personal benefits such as medical/LTC, on campus subsidized family housing with excellent modern infrastructural facilities.

Areas of Interest

IIIT-Allahabad aims to build strong research groups in important and emerging areas in CS/IT/ECE as well as in emerging interdisciplinary areas, and applications are invited in all these areas. Some of the areas of special interest, besides strengthening the existing research areas, are : Software Engineering, Theoretical Computer Science, Cyber Physical Systems, Robotics, Network science, Digital Media, Computational neuroscience, Machine learning, Healthcare informatics, Computational Biology, Communications networks (both at hardware and protocol levels), Circuits (including VLSI, analog, low power, etc), Energy systems and technologies, Biomedical electronics and systems, Computer Architecture, signal/image processing, Embedded and control systems.

A walk-in-interview will be held in the Biotech Park Office at Sector G, Jankipuram, Kursi Road, Lucknow (U.P.) January 31, 2014 at 11.00 A.M. for the following posts of DBT sponsored project tenable at Biotech Park. Educational Qualification
M.Sc./B. Tech Bioinformatics with minimum 60% marks with two years of relevant experience
Job Requirement
Development of databases in multi user environment and application softwares, updating and maintenance of website, Drug designing and QSAR study etc.
Desirable
Knowledge of Bioinformatics tools, Windows, Linux, C++, JAVA / JAVA Script, Visual Basic, CGI, DBMS/RDBMS and HTML. Experience in various domains of bioinformatics such as structure based drug designing, Newtonian dynamics and QSAR studies.
Age
Below 35 years (as on the date of interview)
Emoluments
Rs. 12,000/- per month fixed.

Post-doc in Systems Genetics

Description :

We seek a talented and motivated post-doc to develop computational methods for inferring the molecular basis of genetic diseases by integration of personal omics data. Research topics include: identifying causal mutations of rare disease patients by meta-analysis; inferring disease-causing molecular pathways from genotype, human phenotypes, and omics profile of patient-derived cell lines; and causal inference from longitudinal omics studies of patients. The developed methods will be applied to analyze data from our medical collaborators.

Candidates must either hold a PhD in computational biology or bioinformatics, or hold a PhD in physics, statistics, or applied mathematics with practical experience with high-dimensional data analysis. Experience in quantitative genetics is a plus. Applicants must have a proven publication record and an interest for translational research.

The Gagneur lab is a young, lively and multidisciplinary group with a research focus on systems genetics and gene regulation. It is located at the Gene Center of the LMU (University of Munich), an interdisciplinary institution whose 16 independent research groups investigate the regulation of gene expression at all levels - from the underlying molecular mechanisms to the biological system. The institute is located on the biomedical research campus Munich-Grosshadern, offering a dynamic, interactive and internationally oriented research environment. The dynamism of Munich and the proximity of the Alps provide an excellent quality of life.

The salary is according to the TV-L (German academic salary scale).

Qualifications :
a) Essential: Doctorate degree in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Biochemistry with expertise in Bioinformatics as evidenced by publications.
OR Three years research experience after MVSc/MPharm/ME/MTech with Bioinformatics Specialization.
b Desirable: Experience in handling NGS data Programming skills in Python/Bioperl
Emoluments : Rs:22000/- per month + HRA (higher pay upto Rs.24000/- can be paid depending on the qualifications and experience.
