	<description><![CDATA[<p><strong>splitbam</strong>&nbsp;splits a BAM by chromosomes.</p>
<p>Using the reference sequence dictionary (<code>*.dict</code>), it also creates some empty BAM files if no sam record was found for a chromosome. A pair of 'mock' SAM-Records can also be added to those empty BAMs to avoid some tools (like samtools) to crash.</p>

<p>We wish to recruit a highly motivated, postdoctoral scientist to carry out a BBSRC funded project in the laboratory of Dr. Denis Larkin. The project is focused on developing and applying new algorithms to study genome and chromosome evolution in birds, mammals and other vertebrate species using whole-genome sequences and existing algorithms. The post holder will use cutting edge computational and laboratory approaches to generate chromosomal assemblies for sequenced genomes, study chromosomal structures and genome differences between bird and other vertebrate species in attempt to identify species- and clade-specific genome signatures.</p>

<p>Applicants must have a Ph.D. and a track record of success, as indicated by first-author publications in international journals. They must possess excellent organisation skills and be capable of individual initiative and of interacting as part of a team. Applicants with extensive practical experience in bioinformatics or computer science, programming, visualization, handling of large data sets, high-performance computing are encouraged to apply. The post will involve collaboration with a wide range of academic partners both within the UK, EU and worldwide. In addition to leading their own project the post holder will have opportunities to contribute to multiple international genome initiatives.</p>

Too often they are kept either in private repositories or as part of a public collection to which noone else can contribute. Biocode is a curated repository of general-use utility scripts.</p>

<p>WALK IN INTERVIEW</p>

<p>A walk-in Interview for the following position tenable at the Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF), Department of Biotechnology, Alagappa University will be held at the Department of Biotechnology, Alagappa University, Karaikudi 630 003 on 15.05.2014 (Thursday) at 01:00 PM. This national facility is funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. The main objectives of the Centre involve teaching and research activities in bioinformatics/biotechnology.</p>

<p>RA (One Post):</p>

<p>Salary : Rs. 11000 p.m. plus admissible HRA</p>

<p>Qualification: M.Sc., in Bioinformatics/Biotechnology/Biophysics/Biochemistry/ Life Sciences</p>

On the day of interview, the candidates must produce original certificates in proof of their educational qualification and experience and a recommendation letter from the Head of the Department/Institution where last studied/worked.
