  <title><![CDATA[Postdoctoral scholarship in Bioinformatics at  KTH]]></title>
  <description><![CDATA[
<p>The School of Biotechnology offers a curriculum that reflects the multidisciplinary nature of Biotechnology, integrating theoretical and applied science in undergraduate and graduate courses. The school has six departments with about 300 employees, located at AlbaNova University Center in Stockholm and Science for Life Laboratory in Solna. The Biotechnology research within the school is internationally well recognized.</p>

<p>We are now seeking a postdoc scholarship holder with strong background in transcriptomics to use this large collection of data for integrative studies. Focus will be on advanced bioinformatics and statistical analysis of data from high-throughput sequencing including integration with the other platforms.</p>

<p>The scholarship holder must have a PhD with an outstanding research and publication record and will be selected based on her/his excellence and her/his skills. A PhD should have been awarded less than five years before the deadline of the application. The scholarship holder must have a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology or equivalent with a profound knowledge about biology and biostatistics.</p>

	<title><![CDATA[EvidentialGene: tr2aacds, mRNA Transcript Assembly Software]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p><span>EvidentialGene is a genome informatics project, "Evidence Directed Gene Construction for Eukaryotes", to construct high quality, accurate gene sets for animals and plants, developed by Don Gilbert at Indiana University, see</span><br><a href="http://arthropods.eugenes.org/EvidentialGene/" target="_blank">http://arthropods.eugenes.org/EvidentialGene/<span></span></a><br><br><span>Construction refers to the combination of classical gene prediction, and more recent gene assembly (de-novo and genome-assisted) methods. The basic Evigene methods involve using available best-of-breed gene prediction and assembly software, combining all evidence for genes, from expressed sequences, genome assembly sequences, related species protein sequences, and any other, to annotate and score gene constructions. Over-produced constructions are classified by gene evidence for best qualities per "locus", including genome-aligned and gene-transcript aligned (genome-free) locus identification. All software developed for EvidentialGene is publicly available. See project wiki/blog for notes.</span></p>

	<description><![CDATA[<p>The Genetics, Genomics &amp; Bioinformatics Department (GBBD) at NABDA is unique, encompassing all facets of modern genetics and bioinformatics research. Trans-disciplinary research being conducted in our laboratories would lead to cures for human diseases; improvements to crop and livestock quality and yield; creation of new technologies with applications to medicine; agriculture; environment; and industry.</p>
<p>Our capacity building activities covers both general and specialized topics in translational genetics, and is designed to better acquaint scientists and clinicians with the tools and technologies of genetics and genomics.</p>

	<description><![CDATA[<p>Machine learning techniques have been successful in analyzing biological data because of their capabilities in handling randomness and uncertainty of data noise and in generalization. In this class, we will learn basics about probabilistic models and machine learning techniques. We will focus on probabilistic models (Markov models, Hidden Markov models, and Bayesian networks) for biological sequence analysis and systems biology. Other machine learning techniques, such as Naive bayes, neural networks and SVMs will only be covered briefly.</p>
