<p>Remuneration: Candidate having PhD will get a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 22,000/- +HRA per month. MSc having NET/GATE/SLET qualified candidate will get a remuneration of Rs. 16,000/= and HRA and candidate with only MSc will get a remuneration of Rs.14,000/- and HRA.</p>

	<title><![CDATA[“On” and “Off” the neuron !!!]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p><span>Optogenetics is a recent innovation in neuroscience that gives researchers the ability to control the activity of neurons with light. With this powerful tool, researchers are teasing apart the biological basis of memory, behavior, and disease (see &ldquo;<a href="http://www.technologyreview.com/news/517226/scientists-make-mice-remember-things-that-didnt-happen/"><span>Scientists Make Mice &lsquo;Remember&rsquo; Things That Didn&rsquo;t Happen</span></a>&rdquo; and &ldquo;<a href="http://www.technologyreview.com/news/423254/an-on-off-switch-for-anxiety/"><span>An On-Off Switch for Anxiety</span></a>,&rdquo;). But for the first several years of this technology&rsquo;s existence, the proteins that scientists added to neurons to make them react to light were only good at activating neurons. That limited researchers&rsquo; ability to understand neuronal circuits, sets of interconnected neurons that are thought to control behavior and, when misfiring, to underlie many brain conditions. Problems can arise from any imbalance in circuit activity, whether too much or too little.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Now, two research groups have engineered new optogenetic proteins that can be used to efficiently silence neurons.&nbsp;<span><span>One of the two new proteins comes from the lab of<span>&nbsp;</span><a href="http://www.stanford.edu/group/dlab/about_pi.html" target="_blank">Karl Deisseroth</a>, a psychiatrist and neuroscientist at Stanford University who helped develop optogenetics as a research tool.&nbsp;His group&rsquo;s new &ldquo;off&rdquo; switch for neurons was created by changing 10 of the 333 amino acids in an existing optogenetic protein, which itself had been engineered by combining natural proteins from<span>&nbsp;</span></span></span><a href="http://genome.jgi-psf.org/Chlre3/Chlre3.home.html" target="_blank"><span>green algae</span></a><span><span>.   <title><![CDATA["Advances in Molecular Dynamics of Biomolecules" December 3-4, 2013 @ JNU]]></title>

<p>The extensive growth of computational power and resources over the last two decades has led to a remarkable progress in the large scale simulations at the molecular level. Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations have been an invaluable tool in elucidating the structural, physico-chemical and dynamic properties of various types of materials both in biology and material science, complementing experimental information. With the state-of -the –art computers, it is currently possible to simulate systems containing several thousands of atoms ranging from hundreds of nanoseconds to microseconds and milliseconds! Since simulation algorithms combine domain knowledge from various disciplines of basic science and computer programming, training manpower in such interdisciplinary fields may be hardly achieved within the boundaries of a prescribed academic curriculum. Thus it is of interest of the academic institutions to conduct regular workshops to advance the existing knowledge in the emerging research areas like Molecular Dynamics of biomolecules.</p>

<p>The objective of this conference is two-fold:</p>

<p>    Understanding different algorithms of MD and their relevant applications.<br />    Hands-on practical exercises using NAMD.</p>

  <title><![CDATA[RA Bioinformatics at NIPGR,  INDIA]]></title>

<p>Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of one Research Associate (RA) and one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the DBT- CPCFG Sub-Project 2B entitled “Understanding genetic and molecular basis of Ascochyta blight resistance in chickpea” under the supervision of Dr. Praveen Verma, Scientist, NIPGR. </p>

<p>Research Associate (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms &amp; as sanctioned in the project</p>

<p>Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree (awarded) in any discipline of Life Sciences with good publication record are eligible to apply. Candidates having prior experience in the area of Genetic and molecular analysis of plant/fungus for disease resistance/susceptibility of transcriptome and genome analysis will be preferred.</p>

<p>Junior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms &amp; as sanctioned in the project</p>

<p>Qualification: Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree in any discipline of Life Sciences/Engineering (with minimum 55% marks) are eligible to apply. The Candidate having prior work experience in Molecular biology of plants/animal/fungus or Computational biology with experience in analysis of next-generation sequencing data, protein-protein interaction and system biology will be given preference.</p>

<p>The positions are purely temporary and are co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. The eligible candidates may further be shortlisted based on the qualification/experience depending on the total number of applications received. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification(s) and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.</p>
