<p>Selected candidates will be further intimated. There will be a fees charged for doing the project at UIAR. The projects will be experimental or computational or involve both.</p>

<p>The training scope will be in the following areas but not limited to:</p>

<p>Job Description</p>

<p>• Work within a fast-paced, collaborative environment with small project teams working on a variety of tasks ranging from new product development to DNA data processing<br />• Collaborate with Centrillion research scientists in order to bridge the gap between the laboratory and the digital world<br />• Develop tools to enable research projects to cope with the enormous amounts of data produced by modern DNA sequencing experiments<br />• Build simulation algorithms to help guide and analyze research done in the lab<br />• Solve challenging engineering problems that require the development of innovative algorithms</p>

<p>Requirements</p>

<p>• Strong background in mathematics/statistics with a degree in a related field<br />• Strong analytical, coding, communication, and organizational skills<br />• Experience with algorithm development, simulations, and data analysis<br />• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (like Python or Perl)<br />• Experience analyzing genetic and biological data sets (e.g., DNA data analysis and image analysis)<br />• Experience with machine learning and pattern recognition is preferred</p>

<p>Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Fellow- SRF (1) and Junior Research Fellow- JRF (1) to be appointed in a SERB-funded major research project entitled “Biochemical and functional properties of Synechocystis Glutathione S-transferase(s)” sanctioned to Dr. Timir Tripathi, Molecular and Structural Biophysics Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, NEHU, Shillong. </p>

<p>Essential Qualifications: For both positions M.Sc. or equivalent with a good academic record is a prerequisite. </p>

<p>For Project-SRF, experience in bioinformatics/computational biology is required, which should be evident by atleast one good publication. </p>

<p>For JRF position, freshers can also apply. </p>

<p>The goal of the project is investigating the regulation and functional role of non coding RNAs in tissue response to hypoxia and ischemia.</p>

<p>We are looking for a candidate that is going to interact with biologists and bioinformaticians to manage and analyze NGS data (mostly RNA-seq) and microarray data.</p>

<p>The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience in dealing with NGS data, a good command of English and written communication and at least 2 relevant publications as first author in peer reviewed international journals. The candidate is expected to interact with a small international group and to be able also to work independently. Knowledge of programming is a definitive plus, as well as a good statistical background and/or wet molecular biology skills.</p>

<p>Salary is proportional to experience and to the publication record (up to 38 000euro/year before taxes and retirement contribution i.e. IRPEF and INPS).</p>
