	<description><![CDATA[<p><span>Pondicherry University,Puducherry,on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, conducted the BINC examination in&nbsp;</span><span style="color: blue;">2015 and 2016.&nbsp;</span><span>The objective of this examination is to certify bioinformatics professionals, trained formally as well as self-trained.</span><span style="color: blue;">Registration for BINC 2017 examination will open from January 29,2017 to February 28,2017.</span><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Pondicherry University, Puducherry has been identified as a nodal agency by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India to coordinate this examination along with nine centres namely, </span></p><p><span>Pune University, Pune; </span></p><p><span>Anna University, Chennai; </span></p><p><span>Bose Institute, Kolkata; </span></p><p><span>Institute of Bioinformatics &amp; Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore; </span></p><p><span>North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad; </span></p><p><span>University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram; </span></p><p><span>Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and </span></p><p><span>Assam Agricultural University, Guwahati.</span><span style="color: blue;"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></span></p><p><span style="color: blue;"><strong>In the BINC 2015 and 2016 examination, 23 candidates and five candidates were certified respectively.</strong></span><span>&nbsp;DBT has agreed to fund Research fellowships for all the BINC qualified Indian nationals to pursue Ph.D. in Indian Institutes/Universities. </span></p><p><span>Note that the candidate must possess a postgraduate degree(or equivalent) &amp; meet the criteria of the institutes/universities in order to avail research fellowship. </span></p><p><span>In addition, cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- will be awarded to the top 10 BINC qualifiers.</span></p><p><span>More at&nbsp;http://www.pondiuni.edu.in/exams/binc/</span></p>]]></description>

<p>Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award (IYBA) research project funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT).</p>

<p>The project involves identification and characterization of transcription factors (TFs) from the Arabidopsis shoot apical meristem stem cell niche using genomic approaches and construction of a gene regulatory network for the identified TFs.</p>

<p>Positions: 1</p>

<p>Duration: 1 year but extendable up to three years based on performance and availability of funds.</p>

<p>Emoluments: As per DST rules.</p>

<p>Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in any branch of life sciences with excellent academic record with CSIR-UGC NET or DBT-JRF. Candidate having previous work experience in the area of bioinformatics, molecular biology and genetics is preferred, but not required.</p>

<p>Research Associate Bioinformatics in IISc Recruitment 2020</p>

<p>Essential Qualifications: Ph.D. (Bioinformatics/ Biophysics/ Biotechnology or any other stream of biological/ physical sciences) with a minimum of two publications in reputed peer reviewed journals in the area of structural bioinformatics or biophysics or biomolecular modeling/ simulation.</p>

<p>Job description: Development of bioinformatics tools and algorithms/software for structure based analysis of biomolecular systems. Programmatic access to major biomolecular databases using APIs Knowledge based prediction and analysis of biomolecular structure, function and interactions. Docking/simulations for inhibitor design.</p>

<p>Desirable Qualifications (Research Associate/s): i)  Strong computer programming skills (in Python/PERL/PHP or C++ or object oriented database management systems like MySQL etc or scripting languages under LINUX/UNIX environment). </p>

<p>ii) Extensive experience in computational analysis of biomolecular structure/interactions and usage of advanced biomolecular simulation softwares. iii) Adequate knowledge of major databases, webservers and softwares in the area of biomolecular structure/function and drug design. iv)  Familiarity with Parallel Programming environments and experience in usage of high-end HPC clusters.</p>

<p>The candidates must highlight their experience in above mentioned fields/topics in their CV. Initial appointment will be for a period of 1 year, subject to extension after review of performance.</p>

<p>Lab of Dr. Rawal is supported by generous grants to build advanced applications in emerging areas of cancer genomics, network sciences, vaccine development and epidemiology. The lab has dedicated high end Xeon servers, desktops, &amp; laptops for research purpose. Currently, there are several researchers (JRFs, B. Techs, M. Tech and PhDs) working on several challenging bioinformatics projects. In addition, Dr. Rawal has collaborations with reputed national and international research teams.</p>

<p>Dr. Rawal and his US based collaborators have recently secured grant for development of vaccine against an infectious disease agent. For this project, applications are invited for the posts of Junior Research Fellow (two positions) for the following time-bound sponsored projects as per the details given below:</p>

<p>Opportunity for young Bioinformatics Professionals to make a career in the area of Intellectual Property CSIR has set up a Unit for Research and Development of Information Products (CSIR-URDIP) at Pune to work in the area of scientific informatics. One of the major focus areas of research work at CSIR-URDIP is PATENT INFORMATICS. With the increasing applications of Bioinformatics in the areas of life sciences industry such as Agriculture and Health Care (Diagnostics and Drugs), the output of research in these area is being protected by different forms of Intellectual Property rights. Realizing the importance of IP in the Bioinformatics field, Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has sanctioned a project on “Development, Facilitation and Harvesting of Bioinformatics related Intellectual Property” at CSIR-URDIP.</p>

<p>The project will involve application of Patent Informatics tools and techniques to Bioinformatics (including creation of patent landscapes, preparation of techno-legal reports of patentability, freedom to operate studies) to help protect IPRs and develop and conduct training programmes on IPRs related to Bioinformatics.</p>
