<p>Jawaharlal Nehru University has been granted funds by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India to initiate an Inter-School programme in JNU to strengthen training and research called "DBT-Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and education" with the broad project area entitled "From Molecules to Systems: Exploring biological space using chemical and synthetic biology" cutting across Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.</p>

<p>Applications are invited for the following purely temporary posts at various levels in the various Group projects for Research and Technical positions. The project is upto March 2017, but the appointments shall be initially for a period of one year, renewable every year depending on the performance of project staff:</p>

<p>Desirable Qualifications: Computational methods and designing experience in the field of Structure based or ligand based drug design, Chemoinformatics, Programming capabilities as required for developing tools in the computational &amp; systems Biology.</p>

<p>Post 3: Senior Research Fellow (Computational Biologist / Metabolic engineering)</p>

<p>Age limit: The upper age limit for SRF shall be 32 years, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes, Women, Physically Handicapped and OBC applicants.</p>

<p>Essential Qualifications: Masters/B Tech/Mtech in Basic Sciences with at least 2yrs of research experience in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology related to Database /portal building &amp; maintenance, high throughput data handling and analysis etc. For M.Sc/B.Tech, Published paper in peer-reviewed Journal and for M.Tech, thesis submission in computational biology is a must. Selection preference will be given to candidates with a good knowledge of Python and/or R. Knowledge of JAVA will also get a special consideration.</p>

<p>Desired Skills: Will be expected to manage ongoing research activities in the project, interact with Experimental group, manage the project data analysis, prepare file reports and associated project work etc. Familiarity with plant systems biology and genomics /metabolite resources related to plant metabolomics is desirable.</p>

<p>INSPIRE Faculty Scheme: a component of “Assured Opportunity for Research Career (AORC)” under INSPIRE.</p>

<p>The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has launched the “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” [http://www.inspire-dst.gov.in] program in 2008.</p>

<p>The program aims to attract talent for study of science and careers with research. INSPIRE includes many components. The importance of Assured Career Opportunity in R&amp;D sector has been recognized.</p>

<p>INSPIRE Faculty Scheme opens up an “Assured Opportunity for Research Career (AORC)” for young researchers in the age group of 27-32 years. It offers a contractual research awards to young achievers and opportunity for independent research in the near term and emerge as a future leader in the long term.</p>

<p>Eligibility</p>

<p>Essential Indian citizens and people of Indian origin including NRI/PIO status with PhD (in science, mathematics, engineering, pharmacy, medicine, and agriculture related subjects) from any recognized university in the world,</p>

<p>Those who have submitted their PhD Theses and are awaiting award of the degree are also<br />eligible. However, the award will be conveyed only after confirmation of the awarding the<br />PhD degree.</p>

<p>The upper age limit as on 1st July 2014 should be 32 years for considering support for a<br />period of 5 years. However, for SC and ST candidates, upper age limit will be 35 years.</p>

<p>Publication(s) in highly reputed Journals demonstrating research potential of the candidate.</p>

<p>Desirable</p>

<p>Candidates who are within top 1% at the School Leaving Examination, IIT-JEE rank, 1st Rank Holder either in graduation or post-graduation level university examination (which are used presently for identifying INSPIRE Scholars at under-graduate level and INSPIRE Fellows for doctoral degree)</p>

<p>Essential Qualifications:</p>

<p>(i) Good academic record having at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject, from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.</p>

<p>(II) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.</p>

<p>(III) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) of clause 4.4.1 of UGC regulations 2010, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/ SLET/ SET for engagement of guest Teacher.</p>

<p>(IV) NET/ SLET/ SET shall also not be required for such Master’s Degree Programmes in discipline for which NET/ SLET/ SET is not conducted.</p>

<p>Monsanto is seeking a very talented Genomics Scientistto become an integral member of our Global Pipeline Analytics team with a focus on quantitative genetics. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with modeling and analysis of genetic data sets using a variety of statistical techniques.</p>

<p>Major Responsibilities:<br />- Provide guidance on experimental design for genomic-related experiments<br />- Familiarity with analysis of the following methods: GWS, QTL, eQTL, RNA-Seq<br />- Provide written and oral presentations of methods, results, conclusions, and recommendations to peer and management groups.<br />- Ensure timely delivery and clear communication of results<br />- Develop strong and successful collaborations among various Monsanto enabling teams.</p>

<p>Required Skills:</p>

<p>- PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Quantitative Genetics, Breeding, Bioinformatics or a related field with 2 years of experience<br />- Working knowledge and experience with one of the following quantitative languages:R, Python, Perl, SAS<br />- Background in Windows and Linux operating systems<br />- Very strong problem solving skills will be required to work well as a member of a dynamic team<br />- Strong verbal and written communication skills.<br />- Demonstrated ability to deliver timely results and be results oriented.<br />- Extensive knowledge of quantitative genetics and experimental design.&nbsp;<br />- Demonstrated track record of solving challenging and complex problems.</p>

<p>Desired Skills/Experience:</p>

<p>- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts in language understandable by scientists from a variety of disciplines.<br />- Experience in agronomy and/or plant breeding in vegetables or row crops.</p>
