Companies and governments do research and development (R&D/ R'n'D/ R+D) to promote innovation in order to produce new goods or services and/or enhance existing product lines. R&D covers all actions inside an organization aimed at boosting innovation, such as creating incubators, assisting innovators in scaling up their ideas, and cultivating an innovation culture.

EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships

The EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships support research visits to another laboratory in the research areas of Systems Biology and Genomic & Computational Biology.

EMBO partnered with the European Association for Bioindustries (EuropaBio) to offer four EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships that fund exchanges between laboratories in eligible countries lasting between one week (7 days) and six months (180 days).

EuropaBio, represents 79 corporate and associate members and bio-regions, and 17 national biotechnology associations, and promotes an innovative and dynamic European biotechnology industry. It is committed to the socially responsible use of biotechnology to improve quality of life, to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure diseases, to improve the quality and quantity of food and feedstuffs and to move towards a biobased and zero-waste economy.

As part of the collaboration, EuropaBio provided funds for four fellowships of up to twice the duration of EMBO Short-Term Fellowships. These fellowships will only be available for application during 2017 for research visits during 2018.
The goal of the EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships is to facilitate valuable collaborations with research groups applying techniques that are unavailable in the applicant's laboratory. The EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships are not awarded for exchanges between two laboratories within the same country. The EMBO | EuropaBio Fellowships are intended for joint research work rather than consultations. The fellowships contribute towards travel plus subsistence of the fellow only and not of dependents.

Applications are open until 31 December 2017 only.

Seamless integration of a series of biological processes finally manifests as what we perceive as "Life". In order to gain insights about life and its manifestations in different forms (from single cell to multicellular forms), we seek to understand the underlying mechanistic basis of biological processes at the molecular level and integrate them at the systems level. Towards this, we employ a combination of approaches encompassing Bioinformatics & Computational Biology, Biochemical and Biophysical approaches and X-ray crystallography. Our current research interests pertains to RNA Biology and Molecular Evolution.

What is the objective of BINC examination?

I personally did not understand the objective behind BINC examination. Is government only try to show off that they are doing something to promote Indian bioinformatics sector?

Moreover, It looks like BINC indirectly putting an extra burden to bioinformatician, mentally and financially.

Agricultural research in modern scientific arena is being represented by proper integration among various research fields of biological, chemical and physical sciences, because this field encompasses many more complexities of biology in nature. In the era of fast accumulating biological data coming out from the research on many crop plants, live stocks and microbes and the impact of changing climate, habitat and other interrelations on these biological entities, bioinformatics has come forward across the globe to solve the problems of analysis, prediction, storage, management, pattern recognition, submission, retrieval and storage of the data to find out a fruitful outcome. This area is becoming increasingly important in the context of systems biology approach where a holistic approach is required to understand the biology and chemistry of the biological entities and their behavior during environmental interactions to resolve the harmful impact of biotic or abiotic causes on crop plants, animals, fishes, livestock sector, beneficial insects as well as microbes. The National Training program on ‘Computational Tools for Microbial Research” is an initiative for the capacity building of NARS scientists/researchers in this most emerging area and fast developing area of i.e. agricultural bioinformatics.
