AlignStatPlot, a new R package and online tool that is well-documented and easy-to usefor MSA and post-MSA analysis. This tool performs both traditional and cutting-edge analy-ses on sequencing data and generates new visualisation methods for MSA results. Whencompared to currently available tools, AlignStatPlot provides a robust ability to handle andvisualise diversity data, while the online version will save time and encourage researchersto focus on explaining their findings. It is a simple tool that can be used in conjunction withpopulation genetics software (PDF) AlignStatPlot: An R package and online tool for robust sequence alignment statistics and innovative visualization of big data.

Address of the bookmark: https://bioinformatics.um6p.ma/AlignStatPlot/

BETSY: A new backward-chaining expert system for automated development of pipelines in Bioinformatics

The BETSY provides a command-line interface and available at https://github.com/jefftc/changlab. A user first searches in the knowledge base for desired output and then BETSY develops an initial workflow to produce that data which is later examined by the user. The user can optimize the parameters, the algorithm to preprocess the data, and normalize it depending on the task.

Currently, BETSY consists of modules required for the microarray and next-generation sequencing data [4] such as expression analysis, classification, peak calling, and visualization.

Address of the bookmark: https://github.com/jefftc/changlab

Grinder is a versatile program to create random shotgun and amplicon sequence libraries based on DNA, RNA or proteic reference sequences provided in a FASTA file.

Grinder can produce genomic, metagenomic, transcriptomic, metatranscriptomic, proteomic, metaproteomic shotgun and amplicon datasets from current sequencing technologies such as Sanger, 454, Illumina. These simulated datasets can be used to test the accuracy of bioinformatic tools under specific hypothesis, e.g. with or without sequencing errors, or with low or high community diversity. Grinder may also be used to help decide between alternative sequencing methods for a sequence-based project, e.g. should the library be paired-end or not, how many reads should be sequenced.

Address of the bookmark: https://sourceforge.net/projects/biogrinder/files/biogrinder/
