A walk-in-interview will be held on 15.7.2013 at 12 noon in the Department of Biophysics, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, 92 A.P.C Road, Kolkata-700 009 to select one trainee research fellow and two students under DIC. The positions are purely temporary and would be for a period of six months from the date of joining which may be extended by another six months subject to successful performance.

Qualification:

For the Trainee Research Fellow: Should have a master degree in Bioinformatics or allied subjects and should have biological database development experience. Must have at least one publication.

For the Students: Should have a master degree in Bioinformatics or allied subjects and should be proficient in C-programming language. Must be familiar with techniques of Developmental Biology.

The Trainee Research Fellow would be paid a consolidated sum of Rs 10000/- per month and the students would be paid a sum amount Rs. 7000/- per month during the tenure of the project.

It was first developed to transfer annotations between different genome assembly versions. However, it can also transfer annotations between strains and even different species, like Plasmodium chabaudi onto P. berghei, between different Leishmania species or Salmonella enterica onto other Salmonella serotypes. RATT is able to transfer any entries present on a reference sequence, such as the systematic id or an annotator's notes; such information would be lost in a de novo annotation.

2016 IARC Postdoctoral Fellowships in Cancer Research, France
Scholarship Provider: The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)
Eligible Students: Candidates are required to have finished their doctoral degree (Ph.D.) within five years of the closing date.
Courses: Fellowships are available for postdoctoral researchers to complete their training at the IARC in France.
Award Details: The annual stipend is currently 33 000 Euros and will be paid monthly in advance.

Mathematics Research Fellowships for Developing Countries
Scholarship Provider: The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP)
Eligible Students: Visiting Fellows must have a PhD in mathematics prior to the start of their Fellowship.
Courses: These visiting Fellowships are open to mathematicians for pursuing research programme at ICTP.
Award Details: A small number of visiting fellowships will be awarded.

TWAS-icipe Fellowship Program

Courses: Fellowship program provides relevant and contemporary nephrology training to physicians.
Award Details: The total sum of the grant is in alignment with the length of the training and varies according to the anticipated expenses in the host country, as per World Bank data.

The projects of interest for this application involve research on translational bioinformatics in complex human neurological disorders.

You have a PhD in Computational Science, Bioinformatics, or equivalent, and expertise in analysis and modeling of human RNA-seq data, statistics, data mining and machine learning. Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) is a must. Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple projects and technologies in a rapidly evolving scientific context is required.
Salary will depend on qualification and experience. Starting date: immediate.
