	<title><![CDATA[SIMBA: a Genome Assembly Project Management System]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p><span>SIMBA</span><span>, SImple Manager for Bacterial Assemblies, is a Web interface for managing assembly projects of bacterial genomes. SIMBA was created to assist bioinformaticians to assemble bacterial genomes sequenced with NextGeneration Sequencing (NGS) platforms quickly, easily and effectively. <p>You will have some previous experience with genome bioinformatics or other large scale scientific data analysis, or a newly qualified graduate student with data science skills interested in DNA sequence data. While desirable, previous experience with DNA sequencing data is not strictly necessary for the position. We have a strong publication record and culture of producing open data resources and open source software development. This role requires an investigative and solution-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills to work effectively within large national and international consortia. </p>

	<title><![CDATA[Entrez Direct: E-utilities on the UNIX Command Line]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p>Entrez Direct (EDirect) is an advanced method for accessing the NCBI's suite of interconnected databases (publication, sequence, structure, gene, variation, expression, etc.) from a UNIX terminal window. Functions take search terms from command-line arguments. Individual operations are combined to build multi-step queries. Record retrieval and formatting normally complete the process.</p>
<p>EDirect also provides an argument-driven function that simplifies the extraction of data from document summaries or other results that are returned in structured XML format. This can eliminate the need for writing custom software to answer ad hoc questions.   <title><![CDATA[PLANT COMPUTATIONAL GENOMICS LAB – JILL WEGRZYN]]></title>
  <description><![CDATA[
<p>Our research focuses on the computational analysis of genomic and transcriptomic sequences from non-model plant species. We do this by developing approaches to examine gene finding, gene expression, transcriptome assembly, and conserved element identification, through machine learning and computational statistics. We use these novel methods to address questions related to genome biology and population genomics.</p>

<p>We also develop web-based applications that integrate data across domains to facilitate the forest geneticist or ecologist’s ability to analyze, share, and visualize their data. Such integration requires the implementation of semantic technologies and ontologies to connect genotype, phenotype, and environmental data.</p>
