	<description><![CDATA[<p>As a bioinformatics programmer, and crunchy data analyser you need to install several perl modules and dependencies. Installing Perl modules manually by resolving all the dependencies is&nbsp; tedious and annoying process. Some of the packages like GD is the real pain. <br /><br />However, Installing Perl modules using CPAN is a better solution, as it resolves all the dependencies automatically. In this article, let us review how to install Perl modules on Linux ( which is prefereced amonst bioinformatician) using both manual and CPAN method.<br /><br />When a Perl module is not installed, application will display the following error message. </ul><p>This manual method is very useful when your computer or server is not connected to the Internet.</p><p>Download Perl module: <br />Go to CPAN Search website and search for the module that you wish to download. In this example, let us search, download and install XML::Parser Perl module. Just imagine chasing all these dependencies one-by-one, thinking ... oh ye I got it. That will be very painful and annoying task. I recommend the CPAN method of installation as shown below.</p><p><strong>Install Perl Modules using CPAN automatically</strong></p><p>Logically, you should must have the CPAN perl module installed in your server or computer before you can install any other Perl modules using CPAN. <p>Applications are invited for a post of Research Associate (RA) or Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the ICMR project on "Integrated Analysis of Multi-omics Data in Human Gliomas".</p>

<p>We are looking for a motivated candidate for handling proteomic and/or transcriptomic and other data with a strong background in bioinformatics tools and database development. The project will include identification of novel peptides from mass spectrometry-based proteomic data.</p>

<p>Familiarity with statistical tools or wet lab experience will be an added advantage. The position is open for immediate appointment and available for two years. The applicant will be appointed as Research Associate or Senior Research Fellow based on qualifications as detailed below:</p>

<p>Research Associate: Ph.D. in Biological Science or Bioinformatics with relevant publications in peer reviewed journals. Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, database development, programming skills and proteomic and/or other omics data analysis. Salary will be as per ICMR rules and guidelines.</p>

<p>Senior Research Fellow: M.Sc./B.Tech. in any branch of biology/ biotechnology/bioinformatics, with minimum 2 years of research experience (essential). Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, database development, programming skills and proteomic data analysis. Salary will be as per ICMR rules and guidelines.</p>

<p>Application will be shortlisted based on CV, reference letters from mentors and telephonic interview. Candidates will be called for a personal interview at Bangalore before appointment. No travel expense will be provided for attending interview at Bangalore.</p>

<p>In case, candidates having PhD are not found, candidates having MSc in Bioinformatics or allied disciplines with sound knowledge of Bioinformatics will be preferred.</p>

<p>Remuneration: Candidate having PhD will get a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 22,000/- +HRA per month. MSc having NET/GATE/SLET qualified candidate will get a remuneration of Rs. 16,000/= and HRA and candidate with only MSc will get a remuneration of Rs.14,000/- and HRA.</p>

<p>ICRISAT is seeking applications from Indian Nationals for a Special Project Scientist to work on a sorghum genomics activities related to sequencing/re-sequencing projects utilizing New Generation Sequencing platforms.</p>

<p>The Job detail</p>

<p>    Advancing the SNP-discovery and polymorphism assessment work across several germplasm panels representing global genetic diversity<br />    Population genetic and genomic analyses, testing the hypothesis related to adaptation in multiple geographic regions<br />    Develop SNP assays from large scale GBS and other re-sequencing data for several target traits utilizing available phenotyping data<br />    Combined analyses of genotypic and phenotypic data for discovery of marker-trait associations, and conducting GWAS<br />    Processing, analyzing, and archiving large-scale genomic data sets, assessing data quality, conducting analyses, interpreting findings, and communicating findings to others including preparation of reports, presentations, posters and journal articles<br />    Providing support to MSc and PhD students on topic related to its major core of research<br />    Any other work assigned by the supervisor</p>

<p>The Person:</p>

<p>    PhD in bioinformatics, genetics, computational biology preferably with 1 to 2 years of experience;<br />    familiar with standard bioinformatics tools and scripting languages and emerging and evolving software platforms relevant to bioinformatics and computational biology;<br />    ability to create new analytical pipelines; experience with handling large data sets;<br />    ability to program in at least two of the following: C++, PERL, Python, R, Java.<br />    will use next-generation sequencing technologies to generate marker data for genetic mapping and transcriptome data for expression QTL mapping, and will be responsible for data generation as well as data analysis.</p>

<p>Period and Remuneration: The assignment is for a period of two years, and can be extended for another year depending on performance. ICRISAT pays a very attractive all inclusive lump sum assignment fee payable in Indian Rupees.</p>
