I am working in computational genomics sector. According to me we need more accurate and faster assembly algorithms for short contigs in shotgun seq, especially for repetitive regions. Integrating multiple sources of information (RNA-Seq, GWAS, methylation) also required. Others are as follows:
De-novo assembly of high-error long reads (e.g. PacBio and Nanopore) Single cell sequencing (RNAseq or cancer genome) Recovering lost drugs by population sub-sampling and analysis (e.g. genetic / environmental predictors of drug response)
