Hello RaghavaGPS,
Nice questions and helpfull for who looking for bioinformatics.as you suggestion real person of bioinformatics can get job as per choice.because real bioinformatician can developed and trained into database managment and specially in programming languages so it's have a lots of opportunity. after comming the Next Genration Sequencing, microarray analysis and database managment there are many job can come every day for freshers also.
Thanks
Hi All,
I personally think, this is the boom time for bioinformatics with lots of genome sequencing going on around the world. The bioinformaticists are in for a real treat. With a seemingly endless stream of gigantic biological data being generated across sectors, there is high demand for talented, experienced professionals at the crossroads of biology, statistics, and computer science. The computational biologists are in demand to peruse the mountainous biological data and extract some meaningful information out of it. Scientists who can analyse large amounts of information and present it in a clear manner to decision makers are finding the sky is the limit in terms of jobs and career pathways, especially in the big pharma and biotech sectors.
I will suggest you to please read this:

So don't worry, you are in right sector ;)
Cheers
Hi All,
I am agree with parker view on global bioinformatics demands. But once we look at local (Indian) bioinformatics market it only depress us. I wish India will also join hands with NGS technology and create more jobs for us.
Thanks
Hi All,
I am also agree with Parker. Bioinformatics is alive and kicking. A thoughtful opinion are here http://genomebiology.com/content/9/12/114
Thanks
Hi RaghavaGPS,
Thanks for starting such a useful and debatable topic, which require proper attention from senior most bioinformatician and academicians.
Back in 2001-2008 there were huge number of student interested to learn and get wet with this new and promising technology to excel in research (Bioinformatics HYPE time). Later on it gradually declined due to lack of jobs in the market. Most of the companies prefer trained (PhD/PostDoc) bioinformatician with few years of experience. As far as research lab is concern, they simply exploited the underpaid, temporary, depressed (!!!) researchers and focus more on their personal publication and growth. It look like a very costly investment (10+2+3+2+3(5)+2(3) years) with no sure return (job insecurity).
Now the current scenario, most of the universities are closing bioinformatics division due to lack of proper number of students. The BINC did not conducted exam this year as well....
Thanks
